This book was my 2023 revelation. Boundaries are truly the first skill we should all master. Because boundaries are the open door to self-respect, self-love and self-acceptance. ANNNND they make relationship so much smoother.
However, they are extremely difficult to practice, especially if you haven't had the chance to learn within your childhood home, like me! But don't you worry, if you're completely new to setting boundaries and don't even know how does a boundary sound like, or if you're trying but it feels very difficult to do and receive boundaries, then THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU. Couldn't recommend a better empowering book for increasing your self-worth & self-love!!!

:) Real-life examples : The author is giving us so many real-life examples that allows us to understand
:) Assertive communication : Very similar to the Non-Violent Communication techniques, she gives a lot of strategies and tools to learn how to be more assertive in our communication.
:) Practical Advice & support : Even though Nedra Glover Tawwab isn't with us while we read and experience the book, all of the exercises she offers to practice setting boundaires made me feel like I had support from her all along. A good way to make mistakes on the paper first, before practicing setting boundaries with others.
:) Diversity of examples : from setting boundaries at work, with your in-laws, your partner or your friend, this book is full of example and insights on how to navigate boundaries based on the person we are facing.
:) A full course in one book : The repetition of examples never felt too much, quite the opposite. I ended up the book feeling like I just had taken a full course on "how to set boundaries" and how to receive and accept others' boundaries.
In conclusion, don't wait, go get this book. If you've tried all the tools for self-improvement but still feel stuck in people-pleasing, perfectionnism, anxious patterns, please, get this book!
